Dear Mohammad,

We want to thank you for your generosity and sponsorship of half of the donations of dictionaries given to people through the Dictionary Project. Rotary Clubs and Districts are among our most faithful and long-serving sponsors and represent over 50% of our projects. We are constantly amazed and inspired by all that you do and are proud to be part of your work.

We wanted to let you know that we will again be attending the Rotary International Convention in Montreal, Canada. We will have a booth there and hope that we will have a chance to meet and visit with many of you. Bob Pityo, one of the organizers of Rotary District 7470's Children of Africa Dictionary Project, will be at the booth, and Mary French will also be joining the booth on Monday. Our Webmaster, Mohammad Alansari, will be there Monday through Thursday.

Our booth will be part of the Rotary Literacy Group at the House of Friendship. The booth number is 1811. If you do not find us, look for the Rotary Literacy Group, District 5420 or The Dictionary Project in the House of Friendship. We want to thank Wally Brown from Rotary District 5420 for his help setting us up with our own booth this year!

Our Commitment to International Projects

One of our goals at the Rotary International Convention is to assist Rotary Clubs and other groups who want to promote literacy and help students to learn English outside of the United States. We receive requests daily from groups who want to give dictionaries to students all over the world.

Shipping & Logistics Issues

Sometimes they need help with funding for the dictionaries and other reference books, other times the main obstacle between them and our books is transportation. Shipping is our greatest challenge in supporting international dictionary projects, as the publishers we work with only ship to addresses in the United States. We have not yet found an economical and practical way to ship overseas, but we are hopeful that among our sponsors there are resourceful people who can help us. Currently, The District 7470 Children of Africa Rotary Dictionary Project is working with several Church or Foundations groups that assist them in having dictionaries shipped and distributed to schools or orphanages in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Sierra Leone. Dictionaries are also being donated to The Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Peru though this Project. Be sure to ask about when you visit our booth.

If we can connect Rotary Clubs from overseas with Clubs in the U.S. who have the resources to help them purchase dictionaries and ship the books they need, we will be able to assist many hardworking students and teachers around the world who lack basic educational materials.

International Project Symposium and Workshop

We will participate in the 3rd  International Project Symposium and Workshop following the Rotary Convention, June 24, 8 AM - 4:30 PM. It will presented by The Humanitarian Network and Rotarians from multiple districts, so please join us if you are interested. For more information or to register for the event, please visit this link: http://www.thehumanitariannetwork.org/WORKSHOP2.html

Rotary International Project Showcase

You will see a number of the projects Rotarians have implemented globally with their own resources; we invite you to look at them and find inspiration to help other clubs. You can find more projects featured on our International Projects section on our site.
