The DAR, founded in 1890, is a non-profit volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. As one of the most inclusive genealogical societies in the country, DAR boasts 165,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the United States and internationally. Any woman 18 years or older-regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background-who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership.
This organization has donated 11,658 books. They have been implementing the project since 2004-2005, with at least 33 clubs/sections participating in the project. They have donated to over 87 school(s) nationwide!
So far in 2011-2012, they have donated 1,320 books, giving to students in over 18 schools, and with about 13 clubs participating.
