Dictionary Project Organizations
Non-Profit
There are a number of regional dictionary projects, organized specifically to give dictionaries to students in a state or region. This category also includes the Dictionary Project, which assists with projects all over the United States.
- The California Dictionary Project was founded in 2002 to provide dictionaries to third graders in the California public schools. They are located in San Francisco and sponsor many Bay Area school districts, with the goal of expanding throughout the state. Click here to visit their website.

The Corona-Norco Schools Dictionary Project is an association of service organizations in Corona and Norco, CA, which provides dictionaries to students in the public and private schools in those cities.

The Davie County Dictionary Project has been providing dictionaries and thesauruses to students in Davie County, NC, since 2003.

The Kansas City Dictionary Project was founded in 2002 and is funded by the non-profit Reading Reaches, Inc., as well as local foundations and service organizations. It provides dictionaries to third graders in public and private schools in many school districts Missouri and Kansas. Click here to visit their website.

The New Hampshire Dictionary Project was organized by the Granges with the goal of providing a dictionary to every third grader in New Hampshire. It is currently organized by the Suncook Valley Pomona Grange # 12.

The SoCal Dictionary Project donated English and Spanish/English dictionaries to students in Vista, CA, in 2004.

The South Carolina Dictionary Project was founded as a non-profit organization in 1995 by Mary and Arno French. We assist sponsors in providing low-cost dictionaries and other reference books to students all over the U. S. and the world. In addition we use Dictionary Project funds to provide dictionaries to students in schools where there are no local sponsors yet.

The Vermont Dictionary Project worked with Granges and Rotary Clubs from 2004 to 2009 to provide dictionaries to third graders throughout the state of Vermont.

This organization has donated 1,164,173 books. They have been implementing the project since 2002-2003, with at least 79 clubs/sections participating in the project. They have donated to over 5,685 school(s) nationwide!
So far in 2011-2012, they have donated 126,971 books, giving to students in over 1,583 schools, and with about 40 clubs participating.
