Optimist International is an association of more than 2,900 Optimist Clubs around the world dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids." Adult volunteers join Optimist Clubs to conduct positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. With their upbeat attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young people to be the best that they can be. The first Optimist Club was founded in Buffalo, NY, in 1911. Optimist International now has about 85,000 members.
This organization has donated 130,269 books. They have been implementing the project since 2002-2003, with at least 76 clubs/sections participating in the project. They have donated to over 453 school(s) nationwide!
So far in 2011-2012, they have donated 17,445 books, giving to students in over 319 schools, and with about 37 clubs participating.
