The National Grange is the nation's oldest national agricultural organization, with grassroots units established in 2,700 local communities in 40 states. Its 200,000 members provide service to agriculture and rural areas on a wide variety of issues, including economic development, education, family endeavors, and legislation designed to assure a strong and viable rural America. Known as the Order of Patrons of Husbandry, the Grange was founded in 1867. The Grange's dictionary project is called "Words for Thirds."
This organization has donated 627,400 books. They have been implementing the project since 2002-2003, with at least 838 clubs/sections participating in the project. They have donated to over 2,332 school(s) nationwide!
So far in 2011-2012, they have donated 73,273 books, giving to students in over 1,289 schools, and with about 394 clubs participating.
