Hallmark celebrated its 100th birthday in 2010. This company was founded in 1910 by Joyce Clyde Hall and his brother. Originally called Hall Brothers, this company identified American's desire for more privacy (compared to a post card) and began printing greeting cards. They later changed their name to Hallmark after the goldsmith's term for "quality". They were the first greeting card industry to advertise nationally and after signing a license agreement with Walt Disney, the company expanded into what it is today.
