Russellville Rotary Club distributes dictionaries to local schools

The Russellville Rotary Club recently distributed A Student’s Dictionary to third graders at all local elementary schools. Besides being a complete dictionary, the books are a comprehensive reference containing the United States Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, biographies of all US Presidents, information on all fifty states and all countries of the world, as well as information on weights and measures, the solar system, world maps, sign language, Braille, and more. The distribution of the dictionaries is another project of the Russellville Rotary Club’s support for the youth of Logan County. The club, with the generous support of the community, also provides new shoes and coats to children in Logan County through the Happy Feet and Operation Warm programs. “These reference books are another way of assisting the children of our community,” said Brad Rogers, Rotary Club President. “It is such a pleasure to see the kids’ faces light up when they receive their books.” The reference books are age appropriate, yet are advanced enough to be useful to the students for several years. “This is something that our third graders look forward to each year. This is a resource that might not be available to all of our students without Rotary” stated Katina Kemplin, Principal of Adairville Elementary. Dictionaries were also presented to the Logan County Adult Education Center.
