Rotary Club Delivers Dictionaries to Jackson Intermediate School in Alabama

This past November, 14 members of the Rotary Club of Jackson delivered 696 dictionaries to all third graders in Choctaw, Clarke, and Washington counties. Each dictionary includes a Rotary label with the Four-Way Test and is hand presented to each student. During the Rotary’s presentation, members explain that the Four-Way Test is the Rotary’s business code of ethics which helps individuals make ethical decisions when they become involved in unclear situations. This gives members the opportunity to ask students if they know what “ethics” are or what the word “beneficial” means. Since 2005 the Rotary Club of Jackson has participated in The Dictionary Project, donating over 2,500 books to students in local schools. By giving the gift of a dictionary, Jackson Rotarians are ensuring that these students not only have the tools to become better readers and writers, but also have the ability to make healthy life decisions.
