A dictionary teaches a child how to approach a problem and use critical thinking skills by sounding out the word and finding it in the dictionary. This simple task gives them a feeling of self-confidence and satisfaction that they cannot get online.

Monticello Rotary Club presents dictionaries

Dictionaries were presented to all Monticello 3rd grade students Friday, October 2.

Rotarian Keri Boffeli, Community Service Committee Chairperson, handed out the dictionaries at Sacred Heart and Carpenter schools.

Reports back from parents state that the students were very enthusiastic to look up words. One mom was said that her daughter kept asking her words all weekend so she could use the new dictionary. All in all, the project was a big hit and we look forward to continuing this next year.
