Optimists seek donations for dictionary project

Wisconsin Rapids Area Optimists Club is asking businesses and individuals to partner with them to do something to help with the education of our young people today.

The club members believe that everyone wants today’s students and graduates to be successful members of their community. Today’s kids are our future. They will be the people running businesses and making decisions for others. Could a future president of the USA be living next door to you?

Reading and writing are the most important skills to have in order to be successful in other content areas. Providing every third-grade student with a dictionary is a way we can help students reach these goals. This reference will help them become better readers, writers, spellers and speakers in all areas of their education and life.

Here is an easy way for you to help the Optimists Club bring dictionaries to every third-grade student in the Wisconsin Rapids, Port Edwards and Nekoosa area school districts. We will pool our money along with donations we receive from individuals and businesses and use these funds to purchase the best dictionaries at the best price. Club members will deliver the books to the students. We appreciate your donation, which is tax deductible. We will provide you with a receipt, and put your company name "This dictionary compliments of …" in the dictionaries that your dollars provide.

Please consider joining us in this win-win opportunity. Send your check payable to Wisconsin Rapids Area Optimists and mail to Rudolph Elementary School, 6950 Knowledge Ave., Rudolph, WI 54475.
