Kiwanians bring excitement to Pensacola schools

Big Lagoon Kiwanians recently participated in the Dictionary Project during their visits to the Blue Angels, Hellen Caro, and Pleasant Grove Elementary Schools. As the Kiwanians entered the classrooms at Blue Angels, Hellen Caro and Pleasant Grove Elementary Schools, there was a feeling of excitement in the air; it was evident that the students were happy to see the Kiwanians. The Kiwanians gave a personal dictionary to every third-grade student in our elementary schools. The total number of dictionaries that will be presented this year far exceeds the 530 dictionaries valued at over $1,800 that was distributed last year. The Dictionary Project is a national non-profit organization that solicits sponsors to provide a dictionary to every third-grade student with the goal of assisting all students to complete the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers. This is the fourth time the Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon have participated in the Dictionary Project.

The Dictionary Project is just another example of how the Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon supports the community and the children of Northwest Florida as they carry out the Kiwanis definition that Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

The Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon provides the members with the opportunity to share their experiences, knowledge, time and talents in service to others. We invite you to attend a Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon Breakfast Meeting at the Perdido Bay Community Center, 13660 Innerarity Point Road, Pensacola, FL 32507, held each Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. More information about Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon can be found on the Club website http://www.biglagoonkiwanis.org/
