Carrollton Ruritan Club Distributes Dictionaries to Third-Graders in Carrollton Exempted Village School District

John Rutledge along with fellow members of the Carrollton Ruritan Club recently completed their 10th annual Dictionary Project after distributing 144 dictionaries to students attending Carrollton Elementary School in Carrollton, Ohio. The Ruritan Club has been participating in the Dictionary Project since 2004 and has throughout the years donated a cumulative total of 1,656 dictionaries to students attending schools in the Carrollton Exempted Village School District. The Club’s continued dedication to its annual Dictionary Project is driven by the reactions that members receive from students after they are given their own dictionary. Mr. Rutledge notes, “This is a great project for the children of the school system. They enjoy these books very much.” In order to raise funds for its annual distribution, the Ruritan Club hosts candy sales, the proceeds of which are put towards the Club’s Dictionary Project. Throughout the year, the Ruritan Club also enjoys participating in other projects whose efforts are focused on servicing the surrounding community.
