The Wellington Rotary Club is Spreading the Joy of Words in Wellington
The joy of learning came alive once again as every third-grade student in Wellington, Florida received a personal dictionary, thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Wellington Rotary Club who are local sponsors of The Dictionary Project.
This year marks another successful distribution to students in all eight Wellington schools, continuing a cherished annual tradition that began 20 years ago in 2005. Since that time, the group has donated an impressive 24,264 dictionaries to local third graders.
The project’s goal is to encourage reading, writing, and lifelong learning by providing each student with a valuable reference tool they can keep and use throughout their school years.
Organizers say the students’ excitement and gratitude make this one of their favorite events each year.
“The kids are always so enthusiastic and appreciative — it truly warms your heart to see their reactions,” a project representative shared.
The group looks forward to continuing this annual effort to support literacy and education in the Wellington community.
