For the past five years we have been enjoying the distribution of dictionaries, each year as our budget grows, expanding our number of schools. We find it fun, satisfying and genuinely appreciated by the students, staffs and parents in our community. We all look forward to the project each year.

Dictionaries have been distributed to 3rd graders for a number of years, and that is a great project. We will be ordering dictionaries when school gets back and we can get accurate student counts. Helping youngsters learn how to read, how to look up, and how to pronounce our written language means our community will be stronger, safer, and economically stable for our future generations.

The members of the Grants Fire & Rescue (Career and Volunteer) are spearheading the “Dictionary Project” for the school year 2010-11. We have been providing back-to-school supplies for underprivileged children attending the Devereux Hospital School for over 10 years. This year we are adding a dictionary to the supplies. Case workers make the list of supplies and Rotarians shop for the supplies which are then distributed to the students. Great program.
