Frances Tetervin, Rotary Club of Rockville, Rockville, MD
The Rotary Club of Rockville has been participating in the Dictionary Project for going on our sixth year. We like the Dictionary Project and feel A Student’s Dictionary is useful and well designed.
Joan Trent, Milltown Lions Club, Monmouth Jct, NJ
I believe this is our 6th year doing this. We started because one of my grandchildren received a book in his local school from the Rotary Club.
Peggy B. Mothershead, Westmoreland Ruritan Club, Montross, VA
The third grade students were quite excited and appreciative of their dictionaries and the reference information included in them.
Bob Hart, Rotary Club of Kennedale, Kennedale, TX
This is a great program for our school children. It is very popular for both the students and teachers. This is a great community project and very beneficial to our students.
Brian Dudley, American Legion Family Post 403, Dallastown, PA
This will be the 4th or 5th year we have done this and I think we get as much out of this as the children do. We go and talk a little about who we are, American Legion members both veterans, wives, children, son and grandsons of veterans, and why we are donating the dictionaries.
Terry Voight, VFC Literacy Program, Amite, LA
The teachers and students are delighted with their very own dictionary. They always get a kick out of “The Longest Word” and want to know if we can pronounce it. We thoroughly enjoy this project and look forward to it each year!
David Johnson, Rotary Club of Newington, Newington, CT
This is our 3rd year and we simply love this program. It’s something all of our members can get involved in and it helps every 3rd grader in town!
Mary Jo, Rotary Club of Lapeer, Lapeer, MI
The Lapeer Rotary Club and the Kiwanis Club of Lapeer have joined efforts the past few years and handed out dictionaries to our elementary schools in Lapeer. This year we have added Lakeville and North Branch elementary as well. Having two service groups working together for a common goal has been a rewarding experience.
Ginger Boutwell, Rotary Club of Winnsboro, Winnsboro, LA
This is the fifth year for the Rotary Club of Winnsboro to participate in the Dictionary Project. The teachers and children are always anxious to receive their dictionaries. Each student’s dictionary is personalized with a label with their name on it. The smiles we get when they receive their book is priceless! It’s awesome!
Scott Lendrum, Rotary Club of Hanford Sunset, Hanford, CA
I think this a great project. The kids and the teachers look forward to dictionary day. It is amazing that $2 can help kids learn so much.
