Fran Korwek, Rotary Club of West Anne Arundel County, Odenton, MD
The Rotary Club of Anne Arundel County began our dictionary project in 2004. Since that time we have given out over 10,000 dictionaries to area third graders. It is our favorite project. The Dictionary Project is a wonderful opportunity for our club to support education and connect with the schools. Thank you.
Bobbie L Miles, Kiwanis Club of Waynesville, Maggie Valley, NC
This is the second year that the Waynesville Kiwanis Club has participated in the Dictionary Project. Teams go to each elementary school 3rd grade classroom. Jane Durant-Jones, Rotary Club of Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, CA
We always make an appointment to visit each 3rd grade classroom in the district. Often we combine the visit with the opportunity to have the children learn a little about Rotary as well. We may talk about the 4-Way Test or the Principles of Rotary.
Cobleskill Elks Lodge # 2040, Cobleskill, NY
Cobleskill Elks have been donating dictionaries to third graders in the Cobleskill-Richmondville School District for the past five or six years. This is the easiest project in Elks to raise money for as the benefit is intuitively obvious.
Susan Giove, Rotary Club of Rehoboth Beach Sunrise, Rehoboth Beach, DE
7 years of making the 3rd graders in the Rehoboth Beach area very happy! For some of these kids, this is the very first book they ever owned and could put their own name in!
George Jackson, Rotary Club of Pottstown, Pottstown, PA
This is our third year distributing dictionaries. The teachers are very happy to have the Rotary continue the program.
Joseph Van Deuren, Rotary Club of South Anne Arundel, Annapolis, MD
Our club has just started their 6th year and has been doing this project from the beginning. Everyone loves to talk to the kids and share the dictionaries with them.
Bernard Onan, Rotary Club of Ashland, Ashland, KY
This is the second year our club has sponsored this program for our county school system. The genuine thankfulness of the 3rd graders last year when they received their dictionary was priceless!
William Bassett, Rotary Club of Wallkill East, Pine Bush, NY
This is our 3rd year. We give the dictionaries to all the 3rd graders every year. We also check on the 4th and 5th graders to be sure they are using them (they are). Very successful, lots of good press. Great project.
Jackie Steffgen, AT&T Pioneers / Volunteers, Monee, IL
The AT&T Pioneer Volunteers are a non-profit organization. We have been participating in the Dictionary Project for a number of years now. In an effort to get books into the 3rd Graders hands, we renamed the project “Sparking Knowledge to Brighten Your Future” and are including a special bookmark with each book. The bookmarks include our logo, website, project title and a quote by... Read More
