Tom Savino, Rotary Club of Needham, Needham, MA
Its been really fun! We put the stickers in the front cover for their names and we tell them about Rotary, do a word game, and they are thrilled to receive the books! I’m not sure who gets more out of it, us or them. It’s in third grade that the kids really use the dictionary so it’s perfect. We give the teachers and... Read More

This is the second year we have donated dictionaries to local schools, and the teachers and principals are thrilled. They like it even better that we are coming in early September. Thank you for what you are doing to promote literacy.

Our Rotary club has been donating dictionaries to third grade students of the Tri-Valley School District since 2005. This year we have added another school district – Halifax Area School District. Keep up the good work. This is truly a worthwhile cause.

The Norfolk Elks Lodge has been donating books as part of the Elks dictionary program now for the last 2-3 years. Not only do we hand out dictionaries to the 3rd graders, but we also give an American Flag, Drug Awareness coloring books, and book markers; and then say the Pledge of Allegiance with them. We think you folks are doing a GREAT JOB!!!

Patrick Barnett, Rotary Club of Indian Land, Indian Land, SC
We are a relatively new Rotary club – chartered in 2006 and have been providing the dictionaries every year since charter. We are happy to participate in the project and help with the level of literacy in our county. We love seeing the expressions on the children’s faces when we tell them the book is theirs to keep!

We believe in helping the children of the world especially in our local community and we have kept coming back every year. The kids really appreciate it and we see them at graduation and they mention how we gave them a dictionary in third grade.
Melinda Beekman, Elizabeth Ross Chapter DAR, Ottumwa, IA
The Elizabeth Ross Chapter NSDAR was blown away when our very own member, Nancy Harms, came and did her presentation about the Dictionary Project. We were treated as 3rd graders getting new dictionaries. We purchased 2 boxes of dictionaries for a school in Moravia at that meeting. We are now in the process of getting the word out so more NSDAR chapters in the... Read More
