Every third-grade student in each of the seven classes receives a personal dictionary. This is our third consecutive year of presenting the books as a literacy project for our club. The Dictionary Project is great!

We are so excited about this project–to see the kids actually reading the dictionary when you hand it to them is incredible. We started the project about 5 years ago and did it for about 3 years and now I am excited to be able to start again. The kids love it.

This is our second year of participation. The first year was well received, and we appreciated the many compliments for our donations.

The Rotary Club of Santa Rosa, CA, (District 5130) is purchasing 792 dictionaries and shipping them to PSI Shipping & Courier in Houston, Texas. The Watertown Elks are entering their third year in this program. We have found the children and teachers to be very grateful for the dictionary/resource books. This is our Caring for Alabama project. Greater Birmingham Republican Women love this project. The students will learn so much and have a dictionary to call their own.

The Clovis Evening Lions Club has donated a dictionary to every third grader in the Clovis School District each year for the past six years. We conduct fundraising activities throughout the year to provide the funding for this project because we feel that education is such an important factor in the lives of these children.

For at least the last six years we have given dictionaries to local schools within the Framingham and Ashland areas. This is such a simple project yet it has such enormous impact upon the kids who show such appreciation when they receive their own personal dictionary.

In Fallon, Nevada, the Elks Lodge works in conjunction with the Fallon Rotary Club–Rotary members distribute the Dictionary to 3rd graders at the elementary schools and the Elks Lodge distributes the Thesaurus to 7/8th graders at the Fallon Junior High School.
