I believe this is our seventh year of participating in the Dictionary Project, and we love watching the faces of the students when they receive their books. For most, it is the first book they have ever owned and they are very proud to have one in their possession.

The JC Elks has been participating in the Dictionary Project since 2004. 3 Years ago we partnered with the JC Rotary Club as a community activity. We have developed a great relationship with the Rotary Club from working on this project.

The children who received dictionaries last year were thrilled to receive them. The teachers were enthusiastic and we received a great deal of support from the educators for this project.. We think this project is a very worthwhile one. The dictionaries support students and additionally, give students an opportunity to learn about volunteerism in their communities..

We have been doing this approximately 7 years and enjoyed the response of students when they received the dictionaries. In the past years when delivering them had students come up and say, I still have mine from three or four years ago. This is heartening to know that they remember.

We have been donating dictionaries to the third graders of the Pownal Elementary School for 8 years now. The children love them and we see children in upper grades still using the ones they received when they were in the third grade.

This is the biggest project of our Club and we do so with a lot of pride. We wish you could read all the thank you notes we get for the third graders and teachers of the Dysart school district. Really heartwarming and make the work and effort worthwhile. Thanks for your help in making our undertaking a great success.
