The Kiwanis Club of Lapeer partners with the Rotary Club of Lapeer, to deliver over 700 dictionaries to all 3rd graders in 10 schools in Lapeer & Lakeville School District’s. We also read to all the children when delivering the books to each class. Very rewarding experience!!!

The Project is wonderful. Our lodge has been participating for the last 6-7 years. The children love receiving a dictionary for their use. They are very thankful and show their appreciation by thank you cards to the lodge, which we display to our members. They describe how the dictionary is useful to them. The children are very appreciative of this gift. It is very...

We are in our seventh year with this project. Students look forward to receiving their dictionary because they know their older siblings have theirs and got it in the 3rd grade.. This is the best project we take on for community service. Students love the books, as do the teachers. All are grateful and we are known for the dictionaries we distribute..

We love seeing the look on the children’s faces when we give them the dictionary. For some of them, this is the first book that is truly their own. Many can not believe that we are giving a dictionary to them. We enjoy the thank you notes the children send to us. The standardized test scores have improved in several of the schools where...

We have been participating since 2008. It gets more exciting each year. The kids have come to anticipate our visit. We are getting to see siblings of past students and hear from their brother/sister that they still have and use the dictionary they were given. This is such an easy project to get behind and it is very rewarding!.

This is our sixth year for the Dictionary project. The children are always very excited to get the books, and really enjoy the extensive reference information. The teachers look for ways to include the dictionary information in the lesson plans..
