We will distribute these books to the third grade classes at Renovo Elementary School. We have been doing this for many years. It’s a great feeling knowing that these dictionaries will probably be the only book some students can call their own and use at school and home.

We are a new club, just getting ready to be chartered, and one of our special projects concerns literacy. We are delighted to be able to get to the children early in hopes of instilling a lifetime of learning and literacy.

We have been participating since Rotary year 2003-2004 (7th consecutive year). Wonderful project; we love the thank you letters from the children and share them with our Club members.

We have found that students and teachers really appreciate receiving the dictionaries. We always receive thank you notes from the classes. The students always show appreciation for “getting their own dictionaries.”

This is such an important project and means so much to the children when they receive their dictionary. This is Watervliet’s 6th year doing this project. Every year it seems to get better and better. The students and especially the teachers look forward to us handing out the dictionaries. Before the school year begins the teachers stop us and ask if we are going to do them again.

I believe this is the 27th year that we’ve donated dictionaries to third graders in the Salina public school system.
