This is the first time that we are going to distribute dictionaries to schoolchildren in the far-flung areas in Isabela Philippines.. My fellow Rotarians tell me that this is one of the most rewarding projects they are a part of. They love visiting the schools and seeing the kids faces when they get their dictionary. This is our 4th year and we plan on doing this project for many more years!

We wish to encourage the lifelong hobby of reading by providing a means for the kids to look up words in their own dictionary. We love this project! The enthusiasm from the kids is refreshing, and it reminds us the importance of giving something so small that creates something so big in the future.

This is the second year the dentists of La Marque, TX, have contributed to purchase dictionaries for the third-grade students of our local school district. The children are so proud to each have their very own dictionary, and the teachers are grateful that every child has one to use during this important year in their education.

This is the 4th year we have presented dictionaries to every 3rd grader in Uinta County. We try to present the dictionaries when the teachers are teaching the students about dictionaries & how to use them. Both teachers & students love this program we have started.

This is the sixth year the Lodge has provided dictionaries in these two school districts. It is very rewarding to meet some of the recipients and read the letters they send us. It’s a great program.

We think the Dictionary Project is a powerful way to impact the lives of our students and provides Ada Rotary with a “signature project” that gives focus to our fundraising and public service endeavors. We began with three nearby schools last year and have added a fourth this year. This project has the unanimous support of our membership.

We have been doing this for over ten years. We hear nothing but great things about this project from the schools, Kiwanians and others we tell about this project. We have told others clubs about this and they have started projects in their area.

We first donate about 60% of the books to all local third graders across two public districts (12 classes). We donate the remaining 40% to middle school and high school students that study English as a second language. Many of these older students are refugees from the Middle East.
