Mat.-Ab. Rotary Club presents dictionaries to students

The Matawan-Aberdeen Rotary Club has provided dictionaries to each third-grade student and thesauruses to each sixth-grade student in the Matawan-Aberdeen School District. This is an annual event that the club has been involved with since 2004.

“We are committed to providing these books to the children to help instill enthusiasm for learning,” Linda Pressler, chairwoman of the Dictionary Committee, stated in a press release.

On various dates throughout November and December, volunteers from the Dictionary Committee of the Matawan-Aberdeen Rotary Club visited each third-grade class to give students a talk on using their dictionaries and how much fun they can have in the learning process. This year, the books have been donated by the club in honor of Cliff and Mitzy Moore, of Keyport IHOP, for “Service Above Self” to which every Rotarian is committed, according to a press release from the club.

Matawan-Aberdeen Rotary is dedicated to serving the needs of the community. The Dictionary Project is one of the many local projects organized by the club, which meets every Thursday at 12:15 p.m. at the Buttonwood Manor.
