Rotary Club gives dictionaries to Lacrosse Elementary

The South Hill Rotary Club recently took part in the Rotary Dictionary Project by supplying over 50 third graders at LaCrosse Elementary with a dictionary to be used in their coming school years. This is the first year the club has done this for this school, and they also added Buckhorn Elementary this year with 40 students as well as providing 100 for South Hill Elementary. The club applied for a grant early in the year to obtain the funds. They also had to have matching funds from the club to qualify. The members of the club collected the matching monies and were able to obtain the grant at the end of October. Labels featuring the club’s logo and Four Way Test Motto were placed in each book where the child can write his or her name. Thanks to Principal Nan Alga for allowing the Rotary Club to help the school and the children with their education in this small way. The club plans to supply the third graders again each year if possible. All the students were very appreciative of the effort and responded enthusiastically when getting their dictionary.
