A dictionary teaches a child how to approach a problem and use critical thinking skills by sounding out the word and finding it in the dictionary. This simple task gives them a feeling of self-confidence and satisfaction that they cannot get online.

Clark third graders receive dictionaries

Raymond Baker Post # 209 and Clark Cagley-Smith Post # 60 of the American Legion Auxiliary participate in the Dictionary Project which provides a Student Dictionary for the student’s personal use to each third grade student in the Clark School District. Bernice Halling representing the Clark Auxiliary, and Sally Waterfall from the Raymond Auxiliary recently presented the dictionaries to Clark Elementary School. The dictionaries will assist the teachers in helping students become active readers, good writers, creative thinkers and resourceful learners. The students are encouraged to keep and use their dictionaries throughout their school career.
