Rotary Club of West Palm Beach announces its seventh year of participation in the Dictionary Project

The Rotary Club of West Palm Beach has adopted the Dictionary Project that provides dictionaries to students to keep as their own personal reference books and enhance the teaching of literacy.

The Dictionary Project is a successful national program originating several years ago in South Carolina. Since 1995, millions of third-grade students have been given their own dictionary throughout the United States. “We believe a dictionary is an essential tool for a quality education,” said Kenyetta Haywood, District Administrator.

The Rotary Club of West Palm Beach is delivering dictionaries to a number of Palm Beach County Schools September 20, 2011 through September 23, 2011. They will give a dictionary to every third-grade student within the fourteen elementary schools that are in their club’s service area.
