On November 4, much to the delight of Jefferson-Lincoln Elementary 108 third graders, Oakview Grange members Joyce Kludt and Alice Coakley presented each student with their very own dictionary. This marks the fourteenth year that Oakview Grange has provided dictionaries to Jefferson-Lincoln third graders. The goal of the Dictionary Project is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn. Along with dictionaries, Grangers collect school supplies, Boxtops for Education, and Campbell soup labels to assist local schools in acquiring books, teaching aids, computers, and sports equipment.
