Lake Oswego Rotary Club Brings the Gift of Words to Local Third Graders with Handing Out Dictionaries
The Lake Oswego Rotary Club is continuing its long-standing tradition of sharing the joy of learning with local students at River Grove Elementary School. (Courtesy photos: Sue Linnerooth) by donating dictionaries to every third grader in town.
Throughout October and November, club members have been busy visiting area schools to personally deliver these books. So far, students at Hallinan and Forest Hills Elementary Schools have received their dictionaries, with River Grove Elementary scheduled for this week. In November, the project will continue at Palisades World Language School, Lake Grove Elementary, and Westridge Elementary.
Since partnering with The Dictionary Project in 2007, the Lake Oswego Rotary Club has donated more than 7,800 dictionaries to third-grade students—each one a small but lasting tool to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a love of words.
