This is our 5th year of distributing dictionaries to the schools in Picayune and Carriere, and the students love them!

This is the third year we have participated and each year we have added another school. The dictionaries are especially appreciated by our ESL students who, generally speaking, do not own any books in English. The dictionary then becomes a resource for the entire family.

This is our sixth year. Two to three Kiwanis club members choose one of the 19 elementary schools, and set up a date and time to distribute the dictionaries. The five Rotary Clubs in Alachua County, Florida, have been delivering dictionaries to all the 3rd graders in Alachua County public schools for over 8 years. It’s an easy project that brings joy to Rotarians, teachers and the students. Great program!

My own daughter received a dictionary in the 3rd grade from an unknown donor. She is now 18 and still has that dictionary. She remembers the day she received it. It was something tangible that she would use for many years.

This is the 2nd year we have participated in this program. To see the faces of the children when we told them they could take the dictionaries home was priceless. Everyone who helped to distribute them last year said immediately, we’ve got to do this again. Wonderful program.

We have been participating in the program for about 10 years. This project is one of the best public relations projects our Lions Club does. We also donate Thesaurus books to all the 5th graders.

This is our third year and the teachers are calling us before school starts with their student count!

This is a great way for us to help our schools. We are able to afford these books and still provide help to other community projects.
