A dictionary teaches a child how to approach a problem and use critical thinking skills by sounding out the word and finding it in the dictionary. This simple task gives them a feeling of self-confidence and satisfaction that they cannot get online.

This is a great service project that we look forward to each year. We raise the money to fund this project each year by selling poinsettia plants. The teachers look forward to the students getting the books each year now. We have participated for over 5 years. We cover the City of Osceola’s school district while another club takes care of the county school system. Our club was founded over 100 years ago as a literacy club and started the city library. The Dictionary Project goes right to our club roots, and we look forward to making the books available to our students each year.
