Both the teachers and students look forward to this event every year. This is one of the best projects to serve the needs of many children. So often, students living in low socio-economic do not have access to any tools of this kind, so providing them with their own dictionary is a wonderful opportunity for our Kiwanians.

We always receive Thank you notes from the 3rd graders saying how much they use their dictionaries.

This will be my eighth consecutive year of giving a dictionary to every third grade student in the school district. I tell the students, my Rotary club and others that of all of the things that I do in Rotary every year, spending time with the students and giving them a dictionary is my favorite day of the year.

The Longview Rotary Club has participated in the dictionary project for over 5 years. The Dictionary Project is a great way to give Rotary Clubs the opportunity to purchase dictionaries at an affordable price.

We have given these dictionaries to the 3rd grade students at the Bedford School for several years. This year one of the teachers called on the second day of school to see when we were coming as they use them so much in their classroom. The teachers and students really appreciate them. Our club loves this program. I believe this is our 6th year. We started with two schools and now this year we are working with 15 schools. Now we will be giving over 1200 books to 3rd graders.
