Menomonee Falls Kiwanis Club gives dictionaries to third graders

Our Menomonee Falls Kiwanis Club has gifted the dictionaries to every third grader in our local public and parochial schools. What an experience this has been.

Every child was eager to know what this ‘gift’ was when I walked in their classroom with the boxes. The enthusiasm only increased when they had the dictionaries in their hands. Each teacher had them put their name in the front which reinforced it was theirs and theirs alone. A prized possession. In the presentation we briefly went through many of the items in the book and before I left the children were raising their hands to shout out some fact they had already learned.

The thank you notes are beyond charming. They included drawings of the world as pictured on the front of their books, to telling us Kiwanis was a club of very kind people to do this for them. There were a few tears in the eyes of my Kiwanis colleagues when they read the very thoughtful and caring notes from the children.

The Dictionary Project is very special. We could not have asked for a more worthy endeavor.

Sincerely,
