Students at Tulsa elementary schools are getting a gift

More than 1,400 students at Tulsa elementary schools will get a special gift today.

Dictionaries will be making their way into the hands of all the third graders at 20 elementary schools in the Tulsa Public School District.

The Midtown Tulsa Rotary Club delivers about 1,400 dictionaries to students. The club uses grants and money it earns throughout the year to pay for them. They`ve been handing out dictionaries for more than 5 years.

Students at Zarrow International Elementary, along with Eisenhower Elementary will be getting dual language dictionaries because of their immersion programs.

Teachers at Zarrow say the students really look forward to getting their dictionaries and they are really important to teaching bilingual classes.
`Especially in a setting like this one that we have here, we are trying to be more bilingual, if they get a bilingual dictionary it really helps them,` said Zarrow Spanish teacher, Noe Godoy.

Other schools on the Midtown Rotary list will get English-only dictionaries.
