After 6 years, is it worth continuing? Survey says “Yes”!

The Literacy Alliance of Columbus, with the help of Columbus Rotary Club # 200, has presented dictionaries to third-grade students in Muscogee County and Fort Benning, GA, for six years. This Spring they surveyed teachers and students to assess the impact of the project. The student survey was given to fifth graders, asking what they remembered about the dictionary presentations from their third-grade year. Eighty-four percent said they remembered the presentation, and almost 73% said they were still using their dictionaries. The teachers were enthusiastic in their praise of the project, with 100% responding that the project was beneficial to teachers and students.
