A dictionary teaches a child how to approach a problem and use critical thinking skills by sounding out the word and finding it in the dictionary. This simple task gives them a feeling of self-confidence and satisfaction that they cannot get online.

Concord Grange 322 continues dictionary project

Concord Grange 322 (formerly Pineconia Grange) will meet in the auditorium at Havenwood Retirement Center, 33 Christian Ave. The meeting is open to all Havenwood residents, especially those who were Grange members. Dick Patten is coordinating the dictionary project in which new dictionaries are given to every third-grade student in the Concord School District. This is the seventh year Concord Grange has presented new dictionaries. The Grange will present them to Dunbarton Elementary School third-grade students as well. Call 496-2917 with any questions regarding this project. Members are reminded to bring nonperishable food to the meeting for the "Fill an Empty Plate" state grange project.
