Oakview Grange dictionary project

On February 3, Oakview Grange members Martha Harjo, Debbie Mills and Alice Coakley delivered dictionaries to 100 Jefferson-Lincoln third graders. The Centralia students enthusiastically received their new dictionaries.
Oakview Grange supports the National Grange’s Words for Thirds program, which is a vital part of the national Dictionary Project.
The goal of this program is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary.
The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home.
Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our sponsors to give dictionaries each year to children in the third grade.
This was Oakview’s 10th year of participation in the Words for Thirds program.
