Kiwanis Kangaroo brings dictionaries

With the assistance of the Kiwanis Kangaroo, receiving a new dictionary brought a lot of excitement to Isabella County third graders. Through its Dictionary Project, members of the Kiwanis Club furnished a dictionary to every third-grade elementary student in the county.

The dictionaries were distributed during the first month of school so students could use them during the entire school year. The students are to keep their new dictionaries at school; once the year is over, they may take their gifts home.

The Dictionary Project is a nonprofit organization with the mission to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionaries. The Dictionary Project was funded with money from the permanently endowed Kiwanis Club of Mt. Pleasant Fund held at the Community Foundation.
The fund allows the club to provide resources to better serve and help meet the needs of youth in Isabella County. Grants from the fund are used to support programs that can make a positive impact in the lives of our youth.

The Kiwanis Club of Mt. Pleasant has been active since 1935. Currently, the club has 37 members. The Kiwanis Club of Mt. Pleasant is a service club focused on building a stronger community by helping the youth who live here.
