A dictionary teaches a child how to approach a problem and use critical thinking skills by sounding out the word and finding it in the dictionary. This simple task gives them a feeling of self-confidence and satisfaction that they cannot get online.

Izabela Garcia

9 year old Izabela Garcia was so excited when she received her dictionary this year that she was inspired to start a project of her own! So far, she has visited 10 schools in Wisconsin and donated over 500 dictionaries. This is all in the span of just a couple of months. The Dictionary Project is so grateful to Izabela for her contribution to increasing literacy in her community. As one of our youngest sponsors, she is already making a huge difference.
