Kiwanis Club of Hastings Delivers Dictionaries to Third Graders

Since 2011, the Kiwanis Club of Hastings has proudly partnered with The Dictionary Project to provide third grade students in Michigan’s Hastings Area School System with their own personal dictionaries. Over the years, more than 2,700 students have received this valuable learning tool, reinforcing the club’s commitment to literacy and education. This year, the tradition continued with enthusiastic visits to local classrooms. Third graders were thrilled to receive their dictionaries, each student excited to flip through the pages and write their name on the inside cover. The Hastings Area School System publicly expressed its appreciation with a message on social media: “Thank you so much to the Kiwanis Club of Hastings for providing dictionaries to our 3rd grade classrooms. We are so appreciative to receive this annual donation and the students were so excited!” The annual project is part of Kiwanis’ broader mission to serve children and communities. By placing dictionaries directly into students’ hands, the club supports vocabulary development, independent learning, and lifelong literacy skills. The Kiwanis Club of Hastings shows how a simple gift can leave a lasting impact—empowering students, encouraging curiosity, and promoting education across the district.
