A dictionary teaches a child how to approach a problem and use critical thinking skills by sounding out the word and finding it in the dictionary. This simple task gives them a feeling of self-confidence and satisfaction that they cannot get online.

Rotary Club of Fillmore Celebrates Another Successful Year with The Dictionary Project

The Rotary Club of Fillmore, California proudly reports another outstanding year participating in The Dictionary Project. Volunteers visited four schools in their district — Mountain Vista Elementary, San Cayetano Elementary, Rio Vista Elementary, and Piru Elementary School — personally delivering dictionaries to every third-grade student.

This year marked a special milestone as members were once again able to visit classrooms in person. They distributed 294 dictionaries to eager students, with 34 dictionaries remaining to kickstart next year’s efforts.

Students and teachers alike were excited and grateful for the gift of a personal dictionary — a tool that empowers young learners to build strong literacy skills.

The Rotary Club of Fillmore is proud to continue supporting this meaningful initiative and looks forward to growing the project in the years to come.
