A dictionary teaches a child how to approach a problem and use critical thinking skills by sounding out the word and finding it in the dictionary. This simple task gives them a feeling of self-confidence and satisfaction that they cannot get online.

Grangeville Elks provide dictionaries to students in three counties

The Grangeville Elks Lodge #1825 has been participating in the Dictionary Project the last three years. We are located in north central Idaho, consisting of agricultural and rural areas. Our dictionary program covers eleven schools in three counties and five school districts. For the school year 2008-2009, we were able to complete this task before the end of October, thereby ensuring our students the use of their books for the entire school year. We look forward to doing this activity for many years to come.
