Students at Silver Valley Christian Academy, Pinehurst Elementary School, and Canyon Elementary School in Idaho received a meaningful gift this school year: their very own dictionaries, donated by the Kellogg Elks Lodge No. 1841.

The students responded with handwritten thank-you letters expressing their excitement and favorite features—from maps and Roman numerals to American Sign Language charts.

Third-grade teacher Debbie Deidrich from Pinehurst Elementary shared, “When I first passed out the dictionaries, the kids couldn’t put them down… I wasn’t sure how they would take to a physical book in a digital age, but they took charge of their own learning with enthusiasm.”

Since first partnering with The Dictionary Project in 2005, the Kellogg Elks have donated nearly 1,300 dictionaries to area students. Their ongoing support is helping to strengthen language skills and instill a love for learning—one book at a time.
