Rotary Club of Plainview Brings Words to Life for Hale County Students
The Rotary Club of Plainview, Texas has been building a strong foundation for literacy since 2005 through its participation in The Dictionary Project. As part of the Words for Thirds initiative, the club has gifted more than 11,000 dictionaries to third grade students across Hale County.
Each year, members of the Rotary Club visit classrooms to personally distribute the books, offering students not just a dictionary, but a tool that will support their education for years to come. The students light up with excitement as they flip through the pages and discover the wide world of words waiting inside.
This annual effort reflects Rotary’s core values of education, service, and community impact, and has become a beloved tradition among local schools, teachers, and families.
