A dictionary teaches a child how to approach a problem and use critical thinking skills by sounding out the word and finding it in the dictionary. This simple task gives them a feeling of self-confidence and satisfaction that they cannot get online.

Garden City Kiwanis Donates 4,200 Dictionaries Since 2008

The Garden City Kiwanis Club in Michigan is making a lasting impact on literacy. This year, the club proudly presented a personal dictionary to every third grade student in Garden City Public Schools.

Since first partnering with The Dictionary Project in 2008, the Garden City Kiwanis Club has donated 4,200 dictionaries to local students. The goal is simple but powerful—give each child a tool to support lifelong learning.

The students were thrilled to receive their very own books, and the club continues to promote strong reading and writing skills across the community.
