The gift of words: Kiwanians hand dictionaries to Meridian students

The Kiwanis Club of Grosse Ile recently participated in the Dictionary Project by donating and distributing dictionaries to 150 fifth-graders at Meridian Elementary School. Since its inception in 1995, more than 14 million dictionaries have been distributed to students in the United States as a result of the project. The goal of the program is to assist all students to become good writers, active readers and creative thinkers by providing each student with a personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. Kiwanians David Snoke, Art Koester, David Hill and Clare Koester visited the school and distributed the dictionaries to all fifth-graders and their teachers.
