Ogdensburg Elks Lodge makes big impact

Dear Mary,
Our Ogdensburg Elks Lodge # 772 really enjoy being part of your wonderful program. I’m sure that we will be getting more dictionaries to pass out again for 2011.
Sincerely,
Jerry Reed
Elks 772

The Ogdensburg Elks’ project is named the Sheila Gwen Dictionary Project, in memory of a past school administrator and member of the Elks. The Elks Lodge received many thank-you letters from children at the seven schools where they distributed dictionaries. Here is a sample of them:

"Dear Elks Club members,

Thank you for the dictonary. They are a lot of fun. I like to look for words. I like to look at states. I like to look at the U. S. Presidents. I like to read The Declaration of Independence.

Your friend,

Nathan"

"Dear Elks Club members,

Thank you for our dictionaries.

We do treasure hunts every day. Treasure hunts are when the teacher writes a word on the board. Then we have to find it in our dictionaries. Thank  you again.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth"
