West Louisa Elementary Students Receive Dictionaries Thanks to Community Support

Third grade students at West Louisa Elementary School recently received their very own dictionaries as part of a community literacy initiative. The donation was made possible through a local partnership with The Dictionary Project, whose mission is to ensure every student has access to a personal dictionary.

The excitement was evident as students opened their books, flipping through pages filled with not just words, but also facts about countries, states, and more. Teachers reported an immediate boost in curiosity and engagement, especially during language arts lessons.

“It’s wonderful to see the students light up when they receive something of their own,” said a school representative. “These dictionaries are tools they can use in and out of the classroom.”

This effort reflects the ongoing commitment of communities across the country to foster literacy, independence, and a love for language—one word at a time.
