Crossroads Ruritan Club Brings Dictionaries and Discovery to Callaway Elementary Students.

The Crossroads Ruritan Club of Virginia recently made a special impact at Callaway Elementary School, gifting each third-grade student a personal dictionary. Their generosity lit up the classrooms as students eagerly explored their new books.

The school shared their appreciation, highlighting the excitement among students who discovered that their dictionaries included far more than just word definitions. Many students were especially fascinated to find the American Sign Language alphabet inside. Others explored sections on weights and measures, the Periodic Table of Elements, and civics resources like the three branches of government, the Declaration of Independence, and the U.S. Constitution.

Each dictionary also contained facts about all 50 states and detailed statistics on countries around the world — turning a simple dictionary into a gateway to global knowledge.

Through this project, the Crossroads Ruritan Club is not just promoting literacy; they are encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of lifelong learning. Their partnership with The Dictionary Project ensures that students have the tools they need to explore language, culture, and science all in one place.
