Honoring Dr. Richard Geyer’s Lasting Legacy in Yuma, Arizona

We proudly honor the life and legacy of Dr. Richard Geyer, who introduced The Dictionary Project to Rotary Clubs and schools in Yuma, Arizona in 2004.

Dr. Geyer’s commitment to education sparked a movement that has resulted in more than 101,000 dictionaries being provided to students across Yuma over the past two decades. His vision was recognized early on — in 2008, Yuma School District One Superintendent Darwin Stiffler wrote to Dr. Geyer, praising his foresight and the incredible long-term impact he would have on young learners.

Today, thanks to Dr. Geyer’s leadership, generations of Yuma students have benefited from the gift of literacy and the empowerment that comes with having their own personal dictionary.

His dedication lives on through every student who opens a dictionary and discovers a new world of knowledge.
