Spanish Language Dictionary Centennial Exhibition Opens at Humanities Library

To mark the 100th anniversary of the 15th edition of the Dictionary of the Spanish Language by the Real Academia Española (RAE), a commemorative exhibition titled One Hundred Years of the Dictionary of the Spanish Language (1925–2025) will be held at the Hall of the Humanities Library from June 2 to September 30, 2025.

This exhibition celebrates what is widely regarded as the most innovative edition of the 20th century. It will feature rare historical volumes, posters, and contextual materials showcasing the dictionary’s impact across the Spanish-speaking world, including its reception in Latin America.

The opening event on June 2 will include remarks by acclaimed writer Carme Riera and a roundtable discussion with leading lexicography experts. Scholars and the public alike are invited to explore how this edition helped shape Spanish linguistic identity and modern lexicography.
